My Desk

This past weekend, Matt and I finally had a weekend at home. For the past 2 1/2 months, we’ve been driving all over the state for a whole bunch of social commitments (which is great), but our poor house was being neglected. And having a messy house, overgrown lawn and all the rest of it, was seriously affecting my mood. I had to study in the kitchen because my desk was a mess; we had to eat in the lounge because our table was covered in all of my assignment crap. And worst of all, we felt terrible for our poor housemate Anthony, because, while we were doing the dishes and cleaning the table up before we left each weekend, nobody wants to live in a dusty house.

So on Saturday we cleaned the entire house, reorganised everything, mowed the lawn, organised a compost pile and got some washing done, and now, we feel fantastic – especially because it only took one day!

As I said, my desk was a mess. Not only did it have crap all over it, it had crap under it and beside it and  my seat was covered in washing. This is why you wont see any before photos; I’m way too embarrassed to show you! lol. Ah well, it’s not like a messy room is that interesting anyway.

As you can see, I have a LOT of textbooks! So much in fact, that my poor bookshelf can’t fit them all in. We were going to buy another bookshelf, but we can’t afford it at the moment, so I came up with this as a solution. This is the chest of drawers that came with the house and sits in our bedroom. Before this weekend, I wasn’t sure what to do with it, so I’m really happy I thought to put my textbooks here, it’s just across from my desk, so it’s really handy, and I put my clinical examination tools up there to make it look nicer.

And this is my desk. It’s actually Matt’s old desk, but I get to use it cause he loves me. I put one of my vintage table cloths on it  for extra prettiness, and Matt reckons it really warms up the room. Isn’t he sweet?

Something else that I’m proud of is this frame I put together. My gorgeous mate Tom took these photos as a birthday present to me 4 years ago, and I wanted to do something with them, because they are so special to me. It was very easy. The frame is from Ikea, and the background is some wrapping paper left over from a present I was given.

And this is what it looks like all together. How beautiful is the window above my desk?

What do you think?
